Philadelphia and Amish Country Amazing

We arrived in Philadelphia yesterday after a leisurely drive through Connecticut, a fantastic lunch in Yonkers with our friend Anne Heaton, and a tour of the Bronx. We had the pleasure of gassing up in a town called Cranbury, NJ. Philadelphia has been quite fun so far. The food is excellent, the people are attractive, and the roads are as narrow as they are in Boston.

While we were here, we checked out South Street - a truely trashy/hip fun place to be. They have a South Street Diner that is open 24 hours - just like in Boston! That made us homesick.... or just sick.
Nick had a lot of cheesesteak while Cindy ate weird lettuce/eggplant like things.

We opted not to go to the Philly Art museum, instead we walked around Olde Towne and Cindy forced Nick to see if they could take a tour of the CBS news radio station - KYW - we got a great tour and beautiful KYW coffee mugs - well worth the effort!

We decided it would be a great idea to visit the Amish. We drove to a place called Intercourse, PA. That sounds sick, but we are not making it up. We saw some Amish driving along the road, but did not get out of the car. It was wild to actually see buggies sharing the road with cars.

We came back to Philly and sat in a Coffeeshop and stole some wireless internet and signed up for all this blog stuff. We closed the place down and then sat in the car and found some more wireless and waited for our friend Antje Duvekot to call. Then we ate and went to an open mic at the Lickity Split on South Street hosted by longtime nick and cindy friend, Katie Barbato. We haven't seen her in a long time. She is so funny and crass! I love it.

Now Nick has fallen asleep on the floor of Antje's friend's house and Cindy is typing. This is not full of comedy because it is 1 am and there is tired going on.

sweet blog! one of my prison pen pals is from Cranbury, NJ. I will ask him his opinion on the gas there!

Keep up the good driving...and typing. It's a quality read so far. I hope it doesn't get mediocre as the states do!

My dearest darlings, I'm more jealous than I can say. I know that somewhere before or after Atlanta you're going to swing by my little corner of the country. You definitely should make it a point to be in Charleston on May 7, since yours truly is dancing in a burlesque show with barely anything on. I know it's not nearly as exciting as the Amish, but I do what I can... Drive safely my lovelies and I hope to see you soon.
